Every life is unique, and so are its choices. Different people value things differently, and I am no one to tell how you should think or act in the situations you are facing. So let’s just agree that, even if one asks for guidance, it’s better to help by asking questions. And even those questions, we should ask of ourselves first.

You see, what often happens is that once we try to explain our thoughts, the act of explaining makes us reconsider things. Perhaps even explore them from a different viewpoint. Sometimes, as we hear ourselves speak the words, we realise how absurd some of our believes have been. They might have guided our actions for as l long as we allowed them to linger and strengthen within our minds. However, once exposed to feedback, we gain control and have a chance to change our thoughts.

So why now?

Let me put it as simple as possible. I am not getting any younger. The winter months in my home country in the Nordics won’t become any lighter in the future years. And our kids have grown up, and soon they’ll start building their own lives. It’s time for me to do the same.

Finally, an opportunity to construct a life around my own values without primarily serving others or compromising on every decision regarding where and how to live. This doesn’t mean that I would have felt like an outsider in my own life. Not at all! Life has been good when raising the kids and learning so much new things from them. But now, it is time for something new.

So, that is what is happening in this blog. It’s me – an ordinary person – sharing my thoughts and making changes that hopefully lead to next chapter of a more authentic life. I will share my motives, fears, trials and steps taken. If you are a person planning to make big changes in your life, I hope you can find inspiration from this blog. And please feel welcome to share your thoughts in the comment section. This is the first step.
